Tuition Assistance

What is Tuition Assistance?

Tuition Assistance is a financial award applied as a credit to your child’s tuition. It is provided to families facing economic challenges to ensure that children can enroll—or remain enrolled—in Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools.

Who is eligible to apply?

All families with students in Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade are eligible to apply. Income is one factor in determining eligibility, but personal and socio-economic circumstances are also considered.

How and when do I apply?

Applications are submitted through the FACTS Grant & Aid system. Information and instructions are available on the BCACS website or through the administration office. A completed application requires supporting documentation and a processing fee.

What does FACTS do with my information?

FACTS evaluates each family’s financial situation to ensure a fair and impartial assessment. They provide BCACS with a summary report ranking families by financial need and recommending award amounts.

Is my information kept private?

Absolutely. All family information is treated as highly confidential.

Is help available for completing the application?

Yes! Cathy Erskine cerskine@bcacs.org or Kristen Leifeld kleifeld@bcacs.org are available by appointment to assist families.

How will I know if my family receives an award?

Applicants are notified by email of the amount and type of assistance awarded. Awards are applied to tuition accounts according to your selected payment plan, before the first billing statement.

Are multiple awards available?

Yes. FACTS Grant & Aid is the single application for all available tuition assistance awards. Your family may receive multiple awards.

How many families typically receive assistance?

On average, over 100 families representing around 200 students receive awards annually, with over $300,000 distributed. Every effort is made to fairly distribute funds among applicants.

What are the expectations if my family receives an award?

Families are expected to:

  • Maintain their tuition payment schedule
  • Ensure students attend school regularly
  • Support students in achieving their best
How can my family show appreciation?

Families are encouraged to send a thank-you letter to donors via the BCACS Foundation:

BCACS Foundation
63 North 24th Street
Battle Creek, MI 49015

How is the Tuition Assistance program funded?

Funds come from:

  • Direct contributions from parishioners, grandparents, alumni, and friends of BCACS
  • Interest from endowed funds specifically established for tuition assistance
Will school administrators and staff know my family received assistance?

No. Tuition assistance information is kept highly confidential.

How can my family give back once we no longer need tuition assistance?

The BCACS Foundation relies on donations to continue providing tuition assistance to families in need. Your tax-deductible contribution is greatly appreciated. Contact Abby Lumbard at 963-4771 or alumbard@bcacs.orgfor more information.
